Didn’t know it existed until tonight. www.fireavery.com.
It got started Februrary 29th of this year. So much for Avery being the only coach to take this franchise to the NBA Finals.
The guy who runs it gave me his take on what he wants to see in the next coach if Avery is replaced:
As for who I think should be the next coach, it needs to be someone that is in no way, or has been, associated with Nellie/Avery/Cuban before.
Just new blood. Right now I think Rick Carlisle would be a good option. That’s assuming he doesn’t take the job with the Bulls of course.

Mavs former All Star Josh Howard writes to his fans..I’m sorry for smoking that stuff on his website.
He failed to apologize for stinking it up on the court in this playoff series against the Hornets.

I guess Josh Howard made sure his trade value went down before the Mavericks get sent home for the playoffs.
Josh went on the Michael Irvin show and said that he likes to smoke marijuana, but only in the offseason.
It makes me remember that line from Dave Chappelle in the movie Half Baked, “Now I don’t do drugs…just weed.”
You can hear the interview as Howard explains his “personal choice”.
Why go on the radio before Game 3 in the playoffs against the Hornets and reveal this? The game will be in Dallas, the Mavs are down 0-2. It’s just bad timing and against the law.
The season is going up in smoke. Poor Avery Johnson.

The last time the Mavs won a road playoff game was June 3, 2006.
Do you remember it? It was Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals and they beat Phoenix.
Since then, the Mavs lost 3 road games in Miami and lost in the NBA Finals.
They lost 3 games in Oakland last year to the Warriors and last night lost their second straight road playoff game in New Orleans.
That’s 0 for 8.
Former Dallas Morning News TV critic, Ed Bark, is hot and nails the club on his blog.

Mike Fisher of dallasbasketball.com thinks Mavs coach Avery Johnson is trying to cover his butt in case the team tanks in the first round to the New Orleans Hornets.
Fish pens: This column is about Avery’s present and his future, and his backroom handling of same.
Our friend ol’ Randy Galloway apparently made some radio noise late last week about his pal Avery’s future, suggesting that a) friction between coach and owner could cause a breakup, b) Avery might initiate the breakup by resigning, and c) giving up his $20-mil contract here won’t be an issue because Avery will “get another job right away.’’
My very educated guess is that the coach himself has some involvement in this tale. The tale is disturbing. The timing is inappropriate. But this is Avery’s Pandora’s Box. He opened it.
