T.O. To The Rescue

The Cowboys need to hit Cleveland with a heavy dose of Terrell Owens in the season opener.

Check out my Star-Telegram column on it Saturday for my reasons why.

Also, one of T.O.’s harhest critics, Cris Collinsworth, of NBC Sports finally comes around him/

My Texas Stadium Memory

I will always remember coming to my first game at Texas Stadium, it was in 1993.  I was working for a TV station in Austin and the Cowboys were defending World Champions.   It was a big thrill.

I grew up a huge Cowboys fan, so covering the team has been a great ride.  I will always cherish it.

Walking down the tunnel to the field was and is an amazing walk.  Electric.  I will miss that walk.

I will not miss Texas Stadium, it’s time has passed.  I will be happy when the new stadium opens in Arlington.

Tony Romo’s Dad Gives His Thoughts On Jessica Simpson

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is very close with his dad.  You can say they are best friends.

Ramiro Romo is a driven ex-Navy man who’s competitiveness has been passed down to his son.

I went up to their hometown of Burlington, Wisconsin, in July and asked Ramiro what he thought about his son dating celebrity singer Jessica Simpson.

And for a bonus, I got Romo’s take on it as well.

Just click here to see what they had to say on the record only to NBC 5 Sports.

Photos From The New Cowboys Stadium

The new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington is awesome.  It is everything they have talked about.  This stadium will be amazing. Please click on to see the slideshow of this incredible place.

I got to take a tour Thursday afternoon.  This might be Jerry Jones’ legacy for his family.

This massive stadium will host Super Bowl 45, and that will not be the last.  This place will host all the big time events.  The Final Four, concerts, you name it, they will want to play new Cowboys Stadium.

I hear U2 may do a concert in the summer of 2009.

2008 Season Might Be Jon Daniels Last In Texas

Armando Gallaraga is on the hill for the Tigers tonight.  He was a Texas Ranger.   Did I mention he enters tonights game with an 11-4 record and a 3.14 ERA.

Rangers GM Jon Daniels traded him for an A-ball outfielder.  Bad deal.  One of too many for Daniels when it comes to pitching.

I think new team president Nolan Ryan will find a new GM this winter.  The Rangers have not made the right moves when it comes to pitching and Ryan has had the 2008 season to see what’s been going on.  I just see Nolan going in different direction and Daniels won’t be making the calls.

This damning article on mlb.com highlights how Daniels screwed up:

While the Tigers were preparing for Spring Training with their big-name additions, they pulled off a Minor League deal in early February to acquire Galarraga from the Rangers for Class A outfielder Michael Hernandez. The rest is history. While Galarraga rebounded from one of the first cuts of camp to stick with the Tigers after a mid-April callup, Hernandez is out of the Rangers organization.

As he points out, he isn’t the only pitcher that the Rangers have traded to have had success elsewhere. That’s why he finds it ironic when he hears talk about the Rangers’ need for pitching.

“They had pitchers,” he said. “They had Edinson Volquez in Cincinnati. They had [John] Danks from Chicago. They’ve had pitchers, but they traded them. They traded Nick Masset [now in Cincinnati]. Good pitchers. They’ve had good pitchers, but I don’t know, at some point they get traded.”

Can The Rangers Please Get Her To Throw Out The 1st Pitch

Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover gal, Marissa Miller, threw out the 1st pitch at a Cubs game recently. She makes pinstripes look very good.

Since the Rangers are living in last place again, it’s time to give hard working folks a reason to come out to the Ballpark.

Dollar hot dog days are nice, but I’d say having Ms. Miller throw out the first pitch would be a very nice gesture to the long suffering Ranger fans.
