Jeff Fisher Gets Raked In Nashville

Titans coach Jeff Fisher is the longest tenured coach in the NFL.  His hometown paper has wondered if he is all that, basically calling him out and saying he’s overrated.

The folks down there aren’t too smart.  It’s not like Tennessee is a free agent destination.  They have had serious cap issues most of this decade.

But the Tennessean cut him up: Writing for, Sal Paolantonio said Fisher “still is riding high on the memory of one indelible image” — the near miss in Super Bowl XXXIV, nine seasons ago. “But strip away the carefully crafted Fisher veneer and you get one mediocre head coach who doesn’t deserve the constant doting of the national media.”

A coach in demand

Overrated — yes or no? It’s a fair question. And the answer to it depends upon your perspective.

If you think someone who holds the same NFL head-coaching job for 13-plus years should have made more than one Super Bowl appearance and produced more than five winning seasons, then, yes, he’s overrated.
