I wrote in my Star-Telegram column on why the Cowboys need to feed T.O. this Sunday in the season opener.

The Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiving corps is down to just two proven players: Terrell Owens and Patrick Crayton.

The club will not have the services of Miles Austin (sprained knee) or Sam Hurd (high ankle sprain) for the season opener in Cleveland on Sept. 7. They were penciled in as the third and fourth receiving options for quarterback Tony Romo.

His fifth wide receiver option, Isaiah Stanback, has a dislocated shoulder. I wouldn’t exactly be counting on Stanback for realistic production if I were offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.

Here’s what the game plan should be when it comes to putting the ball in the air against the Browns: Trust in T.O.

Put it on No. 81’s shoulders. I bet he will shine.

Chris Simms Is Out In Tampa Bay

The Bucs finally cut QB Chris Simms.  Look for the Cowboys, Packers, and Bears to try and sign him.

By the way, Bucs coach Jon Gruden showed zero class in the way he handled that situation.  He knew Simms wasn’t going to be around in the spring and he held the kid hostage to spite him.

Chris Simms Looking At Cowboys

Bucs QB Chris Simms (a former Texas Longhorn) should be cut by today and the he’s looking at the Dallas Cowboys.  It would be a great move for his career.

The 28-year old told the St. Pete Times, “I don’t think I’m going to be here. I think that’s the writing on the wall, and that’s what I’m prepared for,” Simms said. “If I end up here? Great. My family and I love being here; we love living here. I love playing for this team.

“But I’ve been around the NFL long enough to know the situation, and I think most likely when (today) comes, I will be released and we’ll go our separate ways. But it was a great run.”

If the Cowboys can get a deal done it would be a very smart move.  I’d keep Brad Johnson and Simms on the roster.  Rich Bartel would be put back on the practice squad.

Sarah Palin Was A High School Point Guard

The Republican vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin is a former high school basketball player, 1984 runner up for Miss Alaska, and a former TV sportscaster.

Here’s some old photos of the old hoops star who won a state title in Alaska.

Palin is the governor of Alaska.

Great day for hoops fans because Sen. Barack Obama is a hoops player and that means either the President or Vice President will represent the game of basketball in the next administration.

Chad Johnson Legally Changed His Name

The Bengals wide receiver has legally changed his name to Chad Ocho Cinco.  Yep.

Check out the story.  I know his cousin Keyshawn Johnson thinks this move is foolish.

The Cowboys host the Bengals October 5th.
