Mavericks head coach, Avery Johnson, failed to make Devin Harris into the point guard he wanted. That is why he is now in New Jersey.
Si.com caught up with him and Devin had this take on playing for Avery:
So is he glad to be away from Dallas and the watchful eye of the Little General?
“It’s a great opportunity here,” Harris said Tuesday night as he sat at his locker before his team’s contest against the Bulls. “I’m getting a chance to do more. I’ve got a little more freedom. I can have more fun playing, get back to not thinking so much and just playing the game.
“It’s a bit tough [playing for Johnson]. He can be hard on his point guards. He likes to micromanage. But he definitely got me ready. … Now I’m here and I can just go out and play.”
