Bobby Knights Quits On Tech

Bobby Knight hung around and got his 902 wins, so he decided to quit in the middle of basketball season. What a great lesson he’s teaching his kids about finishing the job.

Texas Tech is a middle of the road program. His son Pat will take over and I don’t think things will get any better. Think Sean Sutton taking over for his dad Eddie at Oklahoma State.

Tech is 12-8 this year. They probably won’t make the NCAA Tournament.

Knight won 3 national titles at Indiana. That 1976 Hoosier team went undefeated.

He coached for 42 years. The 902 wins is the most all time at Division I for men and won a 1984 Olympic Gold Medal.

He has a lot of fans…and he has got his detractors. One of them is the great writer Rick Reilly. I remember the time he just went off on him in a interview I did back in March of 2006. You can see it at nbc5i.com.
