Give T.O. A Break On Jessica Simpson

ESPN’s Sportscenter has gone hog wild claiming Terrell Owens was calling out Tony Romo and his love life after their 10-6 loss in a locker room chat with the media.

Blame the Dallas Morning News Blog that took T.O.’s words about Jessica Simpson as “not joking” while the Associated Press used the term “playfully chimed” as he said this:

“Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan favorite in this locker room or in Texas Stadium,” T.O. said. “I think with everything that has happened, and obviously the way Tony played and the comparison between her and Carrie Underwood, I think a lot of people feel like she’s probably taking his focus away.

“Other than that, she was at the top of my list until last week.”

I’ll vote for “playfully chimed.”

Sportscenter ran with this and I honestly feel for T.O. They are saying he is “calling out his quarterback” and that is not true.

Now he has said some out of line things in the past, but the man was joking with reporters. He was asked in a joking manner about Simpson and played along with it.

There is no need to hunt this man for negative soundbites, he will give them to you. He has for years. I just think it was wrong on the media to try and trump up something that was not there.

Tony Romo did not speak to the media in the locker room on Tuesday.

Sportscenter made this an A block story. ESPN’s Mike Wilbon said Romo should tell T.O. to shut up about his love life or take it outside. Silly comment on Wilbon’s part. He’s thousands of miles away and has zero clue about what is going on in the locker room other than to take a blog and misread it and check the facts before spouting off. Wilbon hates T.O. so he looks for any reason to ride the guy.

Gimmie a break.
