Happy Trails Tex

The Rangers were NOT going to sign Mark Teixeiria to a contract extention. He was tired of Tom Hicks’ lack of spending and constantly changing direction.

After differences with former managers, Buck Showalter and Ron Washington, Tex should be fine with future Hall of Fame manager, Bobby Cox in Atlanta.

Tex played his college ball at Georgia Tech. He should be a happy guy. Atlanta is a great city and the Braves are a class organization.

Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia is now Rangers property. He is a switch-hitting catcher.

SI.com hailed the trade as a winner for Texas:

Rangers will also receive blue-chip shortstop prospect Elvis Andrus and reportedly top young pitching prospect Neftali Feliz as well as one more prospect, the last two being added to the deal to take the place of pitcher Matt Harrison, who had arm issues that concerned the Rangers.

I’m happy for Tex. Tom Hicks didn’t improve the club enough for him to even want to stay.
