Joey Crawford Is Suspended

The NBA suspended official Joey Crawford indefinitely. He won’t ref another game this regular season or in the playoffs.

Crawford kicked out Tim Duncan during Sunday’s Mavs-Spurs game.

Duncan was on the bench and got 2 techs from Crawford. His loss helped the Mavs come from behind and beat San Antonio.

After the game, Tim Duncan, said Crawford had it out for him, and the NBA is taking his side.

This is from NBA Commish David Stern:

“Especially in light of similar prior acts by this official, a significant suspension is warranted,” Stern said in a statement. “Although Joey is consistently rated as one of our top referees, he must be held accountable for his actions on the floor, and we will have further discussions with him following the season to be sure he understands his responsibilities.”

Mark Cuban is smiling. So are Duncan and the Spurs but good luck getting any close calls down the stretch. Crawford’s buddies probably won’t forget this.

This will let guys with the whistle know they are not the show and people don’t pay to see them.
