That’s Why He’s Coach of the Year

Avery Johnson did it again. He put Devin Harris into the starting lineup and the 2nd year guard ran the Spurs ragged.

The Mavericks took the Spurs behind woodshed and won game two of their series 113-91.

Harris had 20 points and zero turnovers. Josh Howard was the player of the game with 27 points and 9 rebounds. Howard was 11 for 11 from the free throw line.

This all goes back to the Coach of the Year, Avery Johnson. He made his boys pick up the pace and made this a running game. The Spurs didn’t have the healthy horses to compete.

It’s just one game. Devin Harris is not the next Steve Nash after one win. Just give Johnson credit for making the right moves and putting his guys in position to win. He took the blame for the game 1 loss. Give him props for the win in game 2.

It just shows us the Mavericks are not going to be pushovers, like they used to be in the past. This team will fight hard. Now they must win games 3 and 4 in Dallas. If they Mavericks can go up 3-1, I like their chances to win the series.

Is it just me, or is former Maverick leader, Michael Finley looking worse? His dribbling is horrible. 7 points on 3 of 7 shooting in 26:41 goes to show you the Mavs were right in buying him out. He’s not a better player than Jerry Stackhouse, Howard, or Jason Terry.
