I got to spend a good portion of Wednesday afternoon with Baylor’s new head coach, Art Briles down in Waco.

He’s a good dude. I think kids will want to come play for him down in Waco.

Recruiting to Waco is a lot different that talking kids in to coming to the University of Houston. Slow town vs. Big City. Big 12 vs. Conference USA. Bapist school vs. commuter school.

Briles will have a quarterback this fall. Kirby Freeman has left the U (Miami) and transferred to Baylor. The former Brownwood star WILL NOT have to sit out a season. He’s graduated from Miami and has one year left. He had passed for 1,311 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career at Miami

Great get by Briles. All he needs to do is get Freeman some confidence back.

My boy Jacques Taylor of the Dallas Morning News is right,Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is just paving the way for the Red headed golden child, Jason Garrett to take over.

Taylor pens a column about how Coach Jones is back in charge.

Calvin Watkins reports how Jones is scheming to bring in the Red headed golden child’s handpicked defensive coordinator, Dom Capers. Capers who once had current Cowboys defensive coordinator, Brian Stewart on his Texans staff as an assistant is ready to stab him in the back.

Jason Kidd chose 99 million bucks and a stay with the New Jersey Nets instead of the San Antonio Spurs in July 2003.

Stinks for Kidd who has his regrets now and SI.com is reminding him of it.

Look for the Cowboys to speak with Dom Capers about joining their staff.

Capers was fired as the Dolphins defensive coordinator last year, now he wants to join the Cowboys.

Capers was the head coach in Houston when current Cowboys defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and defensive line coach Todd Grantham were Texan assistants under him.

When Jason Garrett was offered the Ravens head coaching job, reports say he wanted to bring Capers with him to Baltimore.

Wade Phillips better get a bulletproof vest.

The Cowboys still need to fill their linebacker coaching spot.

If Capers comes on board the defensive staff that would make three former coordinators (Capers, Dave Campo, and Todd Grantham) to go along with Stewart who is now the coordinator.

Dave Campo will be coming back to the Cowboys. The man who lead the club to three 5 and 11 seasons as head coach in 2000, 2001, and 2002 will be the secondary coach.
