Paris Hilton Is A Waste

CNN’s Larry King is one very good interviewer.

How he got 1 hour out of Paris Hilton last night was amazing.

The trust fund baby truly is dumb. Paris lived up to the negative and mean things they say about her. That one hour showed me how truly dumb and uneducated she is.

Her 3 weeks in jail were deserved. That’s what you get for violating probation!

The trust fund baby dropped out of high school and later got a GED. She’s seen on a YouTube video video calling a girl “poor” and a “public school” female dog. She made use of the N word and anti-gay slurs.

She’s a sideshow and a waste of life.

If we only used one hour to talk about real issues in America.

I can only hope and pray my children never become high school drop outs who think they are above the law and want to buy their way out of life problems… and don’t make sex tapes.

Let’s hope she finds a charity to give her millions to and fades away from the spotlight and late night clubs.

Donnie Nelson Named 2nd Best GM In NBA

Sports Illustrated came out with their list of top GM’s in the NBA.

Donnie Nelson of the Mavericks is ranked number two behind R.C. Buford of the Spurs who’s comes in at the top spot.

Joe Dumars is third. He should be in second place over Nelson simply because he’s assembled a title winner in 2004 and a runner up in 2005.

My Omega hero, Michael Jordan is ranked 29th.

Minnesota’s Kevin McHale is ranked last… and should be.

Tank Johnson To The Cowboys?

Yep, Tank Johnson is a guy that could plug into the Cowboys 3-4 defense and fit in fine. Johnson does need a job since he was cut by Bears things week.

That’s according to my man, Matt Mosley, of ESPN.com.

I had a nice chat with M&M after listening to him do radio for the local DFW ESPN Radio affiliate this morning.

This is a taste of what my man wrote on his Hashmarks blog:

In fact, I just talked to a member of the organization who said Johnson would be a “perfect fit” in head coach Wade Phillips’ 3-4 defense. He said the Phillips scheme actually works better with inside players who have flourished in the 4-3, as Johnson has, because it requires them to line up at different spots along the line and use their quickness to make plays.

I’ve covered this team when they have gambled on guys with character questions. Charles Haley, Alonzo Spellman, Demetrius Underwood, T.O. and last year’s winner of the DWI Award, Marcus Coleman.

Look at the list, only one guy was a true hit, Haley. T.O. is still to be decided. The rest really were not worth the trouble.

Tank Johnson couldn’t keep his nose clean after getting out of jail, why should he be on his best behavior if he comes to Dallas? Guys in trouble usually stay there.

Yes, Tank is 26. Yes, he could do a lot to help the Cowboys defense..but do you trust this man out on the streets of DFW with guns and booze (some of his favorite things)?

Keep in mind, he still has to sit out 8 games for violation the NFL’s player conduct policy. Johnson could get more games because of being pulled over by the Arizona cops last week.

M&M and I wondered should the Cowboys roll the dice. Here’s the question I debated? Who keeps him in line? Is the locker room strong enough to keep Johnson from screwing up again?

Mavs Shouldn’t Make The KG Trade

The Mavericks are players in this Kevin Garnett trade talk and I don’t like it.

You’ll have to give up too much of your roster to make the deal work.

Why are the Mavs chasing this? You didn’t see the Spurs blow up their core after losing to a quicker and younger Mavs team in the 2006 playoffs.

They came back with their core and won the 2007 Finals.

The Colts were the top seed and got beat by a Wild Card Steelers team two years ago. Did they blow up their team? No. They went back to work and won the Super Bowl back in February.

Look at the teams rumored to be linked to Minnesota for this KG deal. Boston, bad franchise. Lakers, desperate franchise. Phoenix, can’t be the Spurs or Mavs the last two years.

The Mavericks are above those teams. They need to make moves that matchup with beating the Spurs. If you lost Devin Harris to a deal for KG, who guards Tony Parker? We see how Cleveland couldn’t do that in the Finals.

The Mavs will have to give up Josh Howard, Desegana Diop, and maybe Devin Harris to land Garnett.

Coach Avery Johnson told me last week he didn’t want to give up “8 or 9 guys” to do a deal.

The Mavs should make their calls, but ultimately, sit out the KG deal.

Tank Gives The Cowboys A Break

Tank Johnson was going to miss the Cowboys-Bears game anyway because of his suspension by the NFL, but now he’s just cut.

Tank got caught speeding recently and the Bears said they had enough.

In a statement by Bears GM Jerry Angelo: “We are upset and embarrassed by Tank’s actions last week. He compromised the credibility of our organization. We made it clear to him that he had no room for error. Our goal was to help someone through a difficult period in his life, but the effort needs to come from both sides. It didn’t, and we have decided to move on.”

I think Angelo and coach Lovie Smith feel like fools because they went to visit Tank in jail. They put their necks out there for him and the guy is out speeding and possibly drinking and driving at 3:30 in the morning in Arizona.

Me say Tank not smart.

I mean, why can’t this guy stay out of trouble so he can save his career. The new NFL commish is looking to make examples out of people and Tank, fresh out of jail, gets right back into trouble.

I just don’t get it.

AK47 In MavsLand?

The Salt Lake Tribune had this juicy bit in Friday’s edition:

Jazz owner Larry Miller told a story on the radio Thursday from a couple of years ago, when Andrei Kirilenko was an All-Star and Donnie Nelson was working as an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks on his father’s staff.

According to Miller, Nelson approached him after a game and offered any player on the Mavericks roster plus draft picks for Kirilenko, then one of the youngest and most dynamic players in basketball. The offer was rejected then. It wouldn’t be now.

“When that happened with Donnie Nelson, I said, ‘He’s untradeable,’ ” Miller said in his last weekly appearance of the season on 1280 AM. “Today, I won’t say that.

Gotta like that if you are a Mavs fan.

At 6-9, Kirilenko can play defense, block shots, run the floor, and score.

The Jazz owe him 63 million through 2010-11, they don’t want to pay that to a player they are slamming on radio and in local newspaper. Miller said in the Tribune, “I don’t want to hang it over his head as a threat, and I’ll make clear that it’s not a fire sale, but if there were a situation that was better for Andrei and better for us, we definitely would consider it.”

I know the thought of Kobe Bryant or Kevin Garnett in a Mavericks uniform sounds better, but AK in a Mavs uni makes more sense, if you want to keep the core of your roster together.

I spoke with Avery Johnson about trades Friday. Look for his quotes in my Saturday Star-Telegram column in Satuday’s Page 2 Edition.

Look for the club to deal guard Jason Terry. The Jet is truly on the runway.

F-Dirk Nowitzki
F-Andrei Kirilenko
C-Erick Dampier

Folks, that’s a darn good roster. I’d hate to lose Jason Terry, but this is a move that could improve the team.

Contract Extension

The Rangers have the worst record in the game of baseball and owner Tom Hicks gave GM Jon Daniels a one year contract extension.

The 29-year old has not put this club in a position to win. This year’s group is just terrible.

90% of his trades have been winners….for the other teams.

Personally, I like Daniels, but the results have not been good.

His critics say he’s in over his head. So far, they are right.

Hicks says the organization is doing well at the minor league levels. He thinks JD is good and says fans are smart and realize they need to take two steps back to go two steps forward.

I wonder if those fans are smart enough to not buy season tickets in 2008.

I wish I cared about this team, but I don’t. It’s a mess in Arlington and I don’t see it changing anytime soon.

Sammy Vs. The Cubs

Sammy Sosa needs one more homer to make it to 600.

His old team, the Chicago Cubs, come to Arlington on Tuesday.

It would be fitting for him to mash #600 against the club that gave him is fame and tried to kick him in the butt out the door.

Look for this 3-game set to bring in a lot of fans to Arlington….Cubs fans.

Consider Kobe?

Hey, Kobe is back demanding a trade out of Lakerland.

The Mavericks have to get on the phone and see what the deal is. If Kobe is asking to be moved to Phoenix, the Mavericks must make a phone call.

Of course, you don’t even mention Dirk Nowitzki as a trade piece. You tell them to look at everyone but Devin Harris and Dirk.

At the end of the day, if the Mavs keep their club together, they’ll be in great shape.

I do think the thought of Kobe and Dirk playing together would be incredible. I don’t think it will happen, but it’s fun to talk about.

Spurs Envy

Call it Spurs envy. There is a lot of that going around North Texas. This is the worst sports apathy I’ve seen around here this decade.

After the Mavs went toes up, we saw the local PGA events struggle to bring in top golfers to DFW and now we all have to suffer through another bad summer of Rangers baseball.

Personally, I did not watch a full game of the NBA Finals. The lack of offense played by the Spurs and Cavs was rough on my eyes. The all time low in TV ratings reflected how many people across the country just didn’t care.

Somebody please get the NBA back on NBC!!!! They got fans to watch.

I can’t help but think if the Mavs could have gotten out of the first round against Golden State they could have gotten past Utah, an old San Antonio squad, and the offensively inept Cavs to win the 2007 Finals.

Well, they didn’t and I need to get over it. Call it Spurs Envy.
