A-Rod Now Stray Rod?

The N.Y. Post put Yankees 3rd baseman, Alex Rodriguez on blast.

They had A-Rod on the cover with a blonde and the headline screamed, “Stray-Rod”.

Ouch. Has the Post no shame?

This is part of their “story”:

The New York Post ran a front-page bombshell exclusive today with photos of Yankee third baseman and all-star Alex Rodriguez apparently visiting a strip club in Toronto on Sunday night with an unidentified blonde woman. The headline dubbed the high-priced talent “Stray-Rod.”

“The cozy duo dined with two pals at a pricey steakhouse late Sunday night,” the Post reported, “then headed to a glitzy strip club before making their way to his hotel, where the pair ducked into an elevator and headed upstairs just after midnight.”

Rodriguez and his guest stayed at the Four Seasons while most of his Yankees teammates and coaches were checked in down the road at the Park Hyatt, the Post reported.

By the way, he’s still on the Texas Rangers payroll for three more years.

A-Rod is married. Man, I’d hate to have to get that phone call from his wife. He also has a child.

What makes it bad is how A-Rod told Sports Illustrated a few years ago how he doesn’t go out. That’s how people start calling you A-Fraud.

I’d never play in New York City because of stuff like this. To be followed by a cameraman in Toronto and for this to make the back pages would be too much for me to handle.

A-Rod can opt out of his contract with the Yankees after the season.

He will… and he should head out to California and play for the Angels. The local paper, the Orange County Register, won’t hunt him down like the N. Y. Post.

Kobe Wants Out Of LA

Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant went on the radio and demanded to be traded.

He also had his agency call Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak and reaffirm his commitment to get out of L.A.

The Mavericks must find a way to make a 3-team trade and explore how they can get Kobe on their team, if and only if they can pair him with Dirk Nowitzki.

I expect the Lakers will try to trade him within the West, but unlike the Shaq deal, Kobe has a no trade clause. He is in the driver’s seat. He can veto a deal to say, Washington.

The reason I say you need a third team is because then the Lakers have a chance of getting some real talent back. They got nothing in the Shaq deal from Miami. The Sixers got nothing back from the Suns in 1992 for Charles Barkley.

A 3 team trade would work.

Who do the Mavs give up? The Lakers would start with Josh Howard, DeSegana Diop, and maybe Mo Ager as names they’d want.

Mark Cuban will not offer the Lakers Dirk Nowitzki, nor should he. Dirk needs a player to compliment him and Kobe Bryant would be a great player to put next to him.

Kobe has a rep of trying to run things off the court, but Cuban and Avery Johnson will nip that in the bud if he wants to win a championship.

Kobe needs the Mavericks and Dirk needs him.

I might be dreaming, but why not dream big?

Rangers Reach For New Lows

Man, the stats back up with we all know. This Rangers team stinks!

How about this stat:

The Rangers’ starters’ ERA is now 6.32, higher than any team in the past 50 seasons but the ’96 Tigers.

Nine times in 51 games — essentially, at least once every trip through the rotation — starters have pitched three innings or less.

Nothing left to say…it’s just a season gone horrible and it’s all over…and it’s not even June yet.

Ryan Perriloux In Trouble

Texas fans should be very happy QB Ryan Perriloux reneged on his commitment and signed with LSU.

He’s been suspended from the team and this kid may never play again for Les Miles.

He was recently caught trying to sneak into a casino with his brother’s ID. Perriloux had already made a deal with the Feds, yes the Feds, to stay out of trouble after getting caught up in a counterfeit money scan.

Next thing you know he’ll get caught smoking weed with Quincy Carter.

If Ryan would have stuck with his orginal choice and gone to Austin. He would have red-shirted behind Vince Young the year Texas won the national title and last year he would have been in the exact same offense they used for Young….for the next four years.

Texas is doing just fine with Colt McCoy as its signal caller.

Big 12 Championship Coming To Jerry World

Jerry Jones is hot. Somebody take that man to Las Vegas.

The Big 12 is giving the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington the championship games for 2009 and 2010.

Jones got Super Bowl 45 on Tuesday and got the Big 12 Title football game two days later.

Now if he can go land a BCS title game he’ll be the man.

It’s a matter of time before he lands some Big 12 team to come play a game there every year. He’s already flown out to Lubbock to talk with Texas Tech.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he found a way to get Notre Dame to play in his new home.

Jason Witten, Superstar!

Yep, I said it. Superstar!

Cowboys tight end, Jason Witten, should put up some sick numbers this fall.

I was at the team’s OTA’s and Witten was catching everything and he was getting down the field as well.

He caught one very nice TD pass from Tony Romo down the middle.

In the locker room Romo said, “Me and J..we understand each other. We talk about football a lot. And I almost understand what he’s gonna do before he does it. I think he understands what I’m doing.”

Now that’s should make every Cowboys fan happy. You think Eli Manning can say that about Jeremy Shockey? If those two guys ever developed some chemistry Shockey would be on the Kellen Winslow type of level.

Witten only caught one TD pass in 2006. He’s better than that. My fantasy team took a hit because Witten was not utilized more. Gee, another player Bill Parcells didn’t get enough of.

The sign of a great passing game comes with chemistry. Just look at the Colts. Peyton Manning has it with Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne.

If Romo and Witten get that chemistry going this fall lots of linebackers across the NFL are in trouble.

What I Like About Nashville

The NFL owners meetings was my 1st chance to go to Nashville.

Broadway Street was cool. Lots of restaurants and live bars. Museums, the arena where the Nashville Predators play and stadium for the Titans is on this street.

It all right next to the Cumberland River.

They had a tremendous jazz station and the all the country music you could want to hear.

The weather was super, no humidity.

We stayed a a nice hotel, Loews Vanderbilt, across from Vanderbilt University. Vandy is not a cheap school either.

We ate at the Ruth’s Chris steak house. Filet, spinach, and the sweet potato cassarole hit the spot for me on Monday and Tuesday night.

I really enjoyed meeting Harold Ford. He was a congressman who lost the senate race in Tennessee. He was a nice guy. He told us, “Spend all the money you want to here”.

All and all, if I had to make another business trip to Music City, USA, I’d look forward to it.
Nashville is very underrated.

Jerry’s Legacy

Nashville will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Jones family.

They won their Super Bowl bid in Music City, USA, and now on Feb. 6th, 2011, Jerry Jones and the city of Arlington will host Super Bowl XLV

This will be Jones’ legacy.

He won 3 Super Bowls as an owner, but the Cowboys had a already set a league record with 5 Super Bowl appearances before Jones bought the club in 1989.

Jones got Arlington to help him build a stadium, but that had been done before in Cowboys history with Texas Stadium opening up in 1971.

Now Jones stands alone as the man who helped bring a Super Bowl to North Texas.

This will probably not be the last one. He’ll pray for good weather in 2011 and if he can get that I expect Arlington to enter the Super Bowl rotation.

The NFL will not play its championship game in California anytime soon. San Diego’s stadium is too old. The Bay Area has nothing to offer.

New Orleans may not be able to get back in the rotation because the city is still recovering from Hurricane Katrina.

Armed with 100-thousand seats and over 230 suites, JerryWorld will always have a chance to land the biggest game in American sports.

Look for multiple Super Bowls, NCAA mens and womens Final Fours, the Cotton Bowl, Big 12 Championships in football and basketball.

Jones will go down as the man who brought big time sporting events back to North Texas.

Quincy Carter Suspended In AF2

Former Cowboys and Jets quarterback Quincy Carter keeps pushing that NFL comeback further and further away.

Since having to take a $200 a week job ($250 if they win) as a quarterback in af2 for the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings you’d think the guy would go to meetings.

Carter has been suspended 2 weeks for missing scheduled team meetings.

Nice.

Somebody needs to let Quincy in on a secret… he’ll never play in the NFL again. Give up on this little football dream. It’s all over, take it like a man.

He’s in af2, the minor league for the Arena Football League.
